33 Springs Fire update: 50% contained

Summary: The fire is in steep, rugged terrain in Leonard Canyon, 17 miles northwest of Forest Lakes, bordering the Coconino National Forest. Southwest winds are expected to produce strong gusty winds up to 35mph. Dozer lines and hand lines have been completed around the perimeter of the fire. Today crews plan to patrol and mop up the southern, eastern and northern flanks of the fire lines. Acreage reduction from yesterday’s approximation is due to better fire mapping.
Structures Threatened: Some homes and structures are potentially threatened.
Resources Assigned: 1 Type 3 engines, 8 Type 6 engines, 1 Interagency Hotshot Crew, 1 Initial Attack crew, 3 Dozers, 1 Type 3 Helicopter, 2 Water Tenders, 2 Arizona State DOC Crews, and miscellaneous overhead.
