Fire managers will be conducting a green waste burn at Bly Pit (34.667317N, -111.110080W
) on Thursday (Aug. 1) near the Mogollon Rim Ranger District office.
Smoke is expected to travel northeast and will be visible to motorists along U.S. Highway 87 and nearby forest roads, as well as the Blue Ridge communities. Smoke may settle during evening hours and impact low-lying areas near the burn site and in East Clear Creek.
Quick updates of notable fire activity and smoke impacts will also be provided via Coconino National Forest’s social media sites, to include the Forest's Twitter
When ignition begins on any prescribed burn, the forest social media accounts are updated so the public can know why smoke is in the air and where it is coming from.
