There are no remaining threats to the community of Black Canyon City.
Activities yesterday on the Brooklyn Fire included knocking out some areas of heat and smoke that were moving down into the Agua Fria drainage. Some observation flights were made to assess the post-fire condition of the Agua Fria
The Bull Fire remained the most active. Fire burned slowly down from high ridges into a bowl of mostly grassy fuels. On the Cedar, fire moved down from a cliff face to Forest Road 269 and went out with no threats to the existing fire line.
Both the Brooklyn Fire and the Cedar fire received rain yesterday. The Bull Fire remained dry. Heavier storm cells dropped between one-third and one-half inch of rain on the Brooklyn Fire and produced several dry lightning strikes over the area.
Storms are predicted again for today but are expected to be less severe. There will still be a possibility of dry lightning.
Today’s activities will include work on the open perimeter of the Brooklyn Fire and reconnaissance flights to map the perimeters of the Cedar and Bull Fires. Initial Attack Crews will continue to be available to respond to any new fire starts.
There are currently no evacuations or closures to Interstate 17. A closure order is in effect for Agua Fria National Monument as well as road closures at the junction of Forest Road 24 and 41, Bloody Basin Road east of Interstate 17, Table Mesa Road east of Interstate 17, and the junction of Forest Service Road 68 and 677.
There is an FAA Temporary Flight Restriction (TFR) covering all three fires. This includes any unmanned aircraft systems,or drones. Remember IF YOU FLY WE CAN’T.
