The American Red Cross has opened a shelter to serve those impacted by the Bug Creek Fire. The shelter is located at Mayer High School located at 17300 E. Mule Deer Dr. in Mayer, Arizona.
Update (June 28, 2016 at 1:57 p.m.)
The Bug Creek Fire (#BugCreekFire) was reported at 10:45 a.m. today and is estimated approximately 100 acres plus.
The Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office has called for mandatory evacuations for portions of Cordes Lakes.
I-17 north and south bound are closed to traffic. The Arizona Department of Public Safety have advised travel on State route 87 and State route 260 as alternative routes to I-17.
Fire managers have asked for the public's assistance to avoid travel in this area so emergency fire resources can access the area.
Resources on the fire include multiple engines, helicopters and multiple air tankers from the Bureau of Land Management, Arizona State Forestry, and multiple community fire departments.
