Yesterday, crews completed ignition operations to secure the management boundary of the Echo Fire. Wednesday's operations went well, and the fire covered the planned management area.
Internal pockets of unburned fuels continue to burn. Increasing humidity and rainfall are forecast for the next few days, which may suppress the last of the fire activity.
With ignition operations completed, smoke impacts from the Echo Fire are anticipated to be less than previous days as the internal fuel pockets continue to burn. The Springs Fire on the Kaibab National Forest may contribute to smoke impacts to local communities.
