Crews completed aerial ignition Seputember 20, 2016. Crews continue to hold containment lines and monitor fire activity. Fire containment currently at 25%.
Crews successfully treated pine fuel in the Mount Ord area using low intensity fire to reduce the risk of a catastrophic fire that could threaten Mount Ord communication towers and the Mexican Spotted Owl habitat.
Forest Service Road 626 remains under emergency closure, beginning at the gate off of State Route 87 up to the lookout tower.
Location: East of State Route 87 (Beeline Highway) approximately halfway between Fountain Hills and Payson. Forest Road 626 is near Milepost 223.
