YESTERDAY: The combination of hot, dry weather conditions over the past few days permitted remaining areas of fuel within the fire perimeter to burn. The securing of the previously unburned areas allowed firefighters to deepen containment lines that reinforced the securing of the fire perimeter. Yesterday’s firefighting efforts and work completed by crews aided the total containment area to increase. With guidance from the resource advisors, successful suppression repair work from firefighting operations was continued.
TODAY’S ACTIVITY: With the amount of successful work that has been completed by firefighter’s over the past several days to burn out fuels close to roads, and cool down isolated hot spots in brush fuels have protected the fire perimeter. Crews will focus on patrolling, mop-up to maintain existing containment lines so the fire will remain within the fire perimeter. Resource advisors will guide repair work along containment lines, including providing input on placement of water bars to assist with erosion or flooding.
WEATHER: The weather forecast is calling for a cold front entering the region late this afternoon to early evening with associated scattered showers and developing thunderstorms. Cloud coverage will gradually increase, and temperatures will be cooler today.
