Northbound Interstate 17 has partially reopened at Jomax Road in north Phoenix following a fatal tanker rollover that closed the highway before sunrise Friday, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation.
Northbound I-17 is restricted to two lanes as crews continue to remove an asphalt oil spill. Drivers should anticipate northbound delays until all lanes reopen.
Southbound I-17 remains closed at Loop 303, likely into Friday afternoon. Drivers should expect delays and consider exiting ahead of the closure by using State Route 74 to the west, which will take drivers southbound via Lake Pleasant Parkway. Drivers also can use Carefree Highway to the east, then go south on local roads including 27th Drive/North Valley Parkway or Cave Creek Road.
