Fire managers on the Prescott National Forest (NF), Bradshaw Ranger District plan to burn piles Friday, July 17, through Saturday, July 25; pending favorable weather conditions. Specific days to burn will be determined by current and expected weather patterns allowing fire managers to make every effort to minimize smoke impacts to nearby communities.
Ponderosa Park Piles: Approximately 15 acres of piles located south of Ponderosa Park (T13N, R2W, S32).
Thumb Butte Piles: Approximately 7 acres of piles located north of Thumb Butte (T14N, R3W, Sec 25, 26) and border the communities of Kingswood, Forest Trails and the forest boundary. Possible impacts to Trail 386. Fire mangers treated 12 acres July 7-8.
Prieta Overlook Piles: Approximately 85 acres of piles located south of Thumb Butte (T13N, R3W, S9, 10, 15) near the Sierra Prieta Overlook. Possible impacts to Trail 264 and 366.
All prescribed fires activity is dependent on the availability of personnel and equipment, weather, fuels and conditions that minimize smoke impacts as best as possible and approval from the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality.
