Crews continue to make excellent progress on the Pine Hollow Fire. The most active part of the fire is the northern edge, where winds drove the fire towards the previously burned Wire Pass Fire. Along the eastern edge, the fire is holding west of House Rock Valley Road. On the south, crews continue to hold the fire along Winter Road and have been extinguishing small spot fires that ignite south of the road. Resources continue to arrive and assist with fire operations.
Today we expect fire behavior to be extreme due to dry fuel, high heat, and erratic winds. Pinyon-Juniper is the dominant fuel type across the fire area. Old fire scars and vegetation treatments are helping to slow the fire spread in places where those occurred and where treatments were put in place.
