Rains Diminish High Meadow Fire on Arizona Strip

On July 15, 2015 fire staff from the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Arizona Strip District responded to a smoke report near Mt. Trumbull and Potato Valley on the BLM Arizona Strip. The lightning-caused High Meadow Fire is located approximately 55 miles southeast of St. George, Utah. The fire is 208 acres in size and is in the Grand Canyon-Parashant National Monument portion of the BLM Arizona Strip.

Recent rains have aided in diminishing fire activity significantly. “The fire has received a significant amount of moisture which has decreased the fire activity. It’s shown no growth over the last 24 hours,” said BLM Arizona Strip District Public Affairs Specialist Rachel Carnahan.

Resources on the fire include 3 engines, one wildland fire module, and Incident Command Type 4 staff.

There are no road or trail closures anticipated at this time. No smoke is visible on the fire currently.
