The American Red Cross Grand Canyon Chapter is operating a shelter in Flagstaff at the Sinagua Middle School located at 3950 E. Butler Ave.
The shelter is part of the integrated response to the Slide Fire located in the Oak Creek Canyon outside of Sedona. The shelter is being staffed by Red Cross workers from throughout Arizona.
There were 11 evacuees in the Red Cross shelter last night and more are registering throughout the day. The Red Cross has a nurse at the shelter and the Salvation Army is providing three meals per day.
Small animals may be sheltered at no charge at the Coconino Humane Association located at 3501 E. Butler Ave. in Flagstaff. At this time, in-kind donations from individuals are not needed, and are not being accepted at the shelter.
