Red Flag Warning in Effect July 11 for Apache-Sitgreaves National Forests

The National Weather Service has issued a RED FLAG WARNING for today for northern Arizona including portions of the Apache-Sitgreaves National Forests, to include Show Low, Pinetop/Lakeside, Greer, Nutrioso, and Alpine, due to strong winds and low relative humidity. This Red Flag Warning is in effect today from 12:00 noon. to 8:00 p.m. MST.

On a Red Flag day, the following restrictions go into effect during the advisory hours:

  • Smoking only within enclosed vehicles and buildings.
  • Campfires and charcoal fires are not allowed even in developed campgrounds.
  • Other activities that could cause a spark should be avoided including welding, chainsaw use and explosives use.
