The San Juan Fire remains 6,975 acres and containment has reached 70%. Firefighters will continue mop up of uncontained fire line located primarily on the west side of the fire and work towards rehabilitation of fire suppression related activities. Some resources have been released to return to their home units or to respond to other fires.
Incident Commander Matt Reidy said, “I am proud of the valuable work firefighters from state, federal and local units have provided.”
Approximately 100 area residents attended a final public meeting held at the Vernon Fire District Wednesday. The meeting provided an update on the status of the fire and planned rehabilitation efforts of the surrounding areas.
