The Lion Fire is located approximately 6 miles south of Crown King on Bureau of Land Management (T9N, R1E, S18). The lightning-caused Lion Fire is 160 acres and has seen no growth over the past few days. Due to its remote location and rugged terrain, the fire continues to be monitored by aircraft with ground resources available.
Resources will continue to monitor the Lion Fire today. A helicopter recon is planned for later this morning.
The Lion Fire started south of the Bradshaw Mountains and is burning in a remote and rugged area. Crews will work indirect due to terrain and predicted weather with concerns of strong outflow winds from thunderstorms. At this time, the fire is 125 acres.
No structures are threatened or are in the immediate area of the fire.
The fire is smoldering with very little to no visible smoke. Smoke may be visible in the later part of the day when temperatures rise. The fire has burned into some natural barriers.
