Forest Road 25

The Rattlesnake Fire is located approximately 43 miles southeast of Whiteriver, 20 miles southwest of Alpine, and over 50 miles northwest of San Carlos, burning on the Fort Apache Indian Reservation, San Carlos Indian Reservation and the Apache-Sitgreaves National Forests.
 
The Rattlesnake Fire is approximately 26,072 acres in size and 63 percent contained. The fire was human-caused and is under investigation. Resources include 295 personnel.
 

Fire activity: On Sunday aerial ignitions were utilized to successfully burn out the largest unburned interior island west of Forest Road 25.  Increased acreage reported today is a result of interior burning.  Fire operations were coordinated along both the southeast and southwest flanks of the fire by strengthening constructed fire lines.  Fire line repair was completed for contingency lines north of the Black River.
