A local Type 3 organization led by Incident Commander Preston Mercer will assume command of the Museum Fire today at 6 PM. The Southwest Area Type 1 Incident Management Team 2, led by Incident Commander Rich Nieto, has made solid progress containing the fire and will continue mop-up, suppression repair, and cooling hot spots today.
Bradshaw Ranger District fire managers plan to continue fuels treatment in the Prescott Basin on Tuesday, January 9th through Friday, January 12th; weather conditions permitting. Benefits from these treatment help to reduce hazardous fuels adjacent to the wildland urban interface and increase ecosystem and community resilience.
Spruce Mountain Piles – Piles are located approximately 5 miles south and east of Prescott near the community of Groom Creek (T13N, R2W, S31).
Fire managers on the Verde Ranger District are planning to burn Thursday, February 2; pending favorable weather conditions. Specific days to burn are determined by current and expected weather patterns allowing fire managers to make every effort to minimize smoke impacts to nearby communities.
