Portions of the Tonto National Forest received rain Wednesday night, helping firefighters. Thanks to rain and higher humidity, no new fires have been reported today. Until conditions change, this will be the last fire update.

Additional monsoon storms on Tuesday night kept firefighters busy chasing reports of new fire starts on the Tonto National Forest. As of this morning, eighteen reports of smoke had been reported and firefighters are checking on them. There are currently seven fires burning on the Tonto, and afternoon thunderstorms are expected to deliver more lightning.

The Superstition Fire is burning near Charlebois Spring on the west end of the Superstition Wilderness. Because of the remote location and rugged terrain, this fire is currently being monitored from the air. There is chance for afternoon thunderstorms and erratic winds in the area of the fire. This fire may be visible from Mesa and Apache Junction.
