Lakeside Ranger District

The Apache-Sitgreaves National Forests’ Lakeside Ranger District will be burning slash piles February 6 through February 10, if conditions allow. The ignition area is on Timber Knoll just south of Ojo Bonito Estates. Scattered piles will be burned across roughly 10 acres of forest land each day. Smoke impact is anticipated along Highway 60 and within the Vernon Community. In the interest of safety, forest visitors are reminded to use caution when traveling in the vicinity of the pile burn as smoke may reduce visibility in the area.      

The Apache-Sitgreaves National Forests’ Lakeside Ranger District will be burning slash piles January 30 through February 3, if conditions allow. The ignition area is on Timber Knoll just south of Ojo Bonito Estates. Scattered piles will be burned across roughly 10 acres of forest land each day. The ignition area is on Timber Knoll just south of Ojo Bonito Estates. Scattered piles will be burned across roughly 10 acres of forest land each day. Ignition is planned for two days only and smoke impact is anticipated along Highway 60 and within the Vernon Community. In the interest of safety, forest visitors are reminded to use caution when traveling in the vicinity of the pile burn as smoke may reduce visibility in the area.      

The Apache-Sitgreaves National Forests’ Lakeside Ranger District will be burning slash piles today, December 19, and possibly December 20 if conditions allow. The ignition area is on Timber Knoll just south of Ojo Bonito Estates. Scattered piles will be burned across roughly 50 acres of forest land each day. Ignition is planned for two days only and smoke impact is anticipated along Highway 60 and within the Vernon Community.

The Apache-Sitgreaves National Forests’ Lakeside Ranger District will be conducting a 600 acre prescribed burn within the Goodman unit of the Los Burros broadcast burn area, south of Vernon beginning October 26th and continuing thru October 28th, weather dependent.   

The Goodman Unit is about two miles south of Vernon, along Apache County Road 3140. The burn is surrounded by Forest Service Road 2, Apache County Road 3140 and hand or dozer lines. The legal description is: T9N, R25E Sections 3, 4, 5 and 9, T10N, R25E, Sections 33 and 34.

The Fill Fire is continuing to burn southwest of Pinedale in the previous Rodeo-Chediski Fire perimeter off Forest Service Roads132 and 300 on the Lakeside Ranger District

Fire crews are expecting precipitation in the area over the next few days and are continuing managed ignitions to clear up pockets of dense fuels within the fire boundaries.  Fire activity is still expected to be low, and crews are monitoring winds and weather conditions to ensure fire remains beneficial to the location.

The Fill Fire is continuing to burn southwest of Pinedale in the previous Rodeo-Chediski Fire perimeter off the Forest Service 132 and 300 roads on the Lakeside Ranger District.  Smoke may continue to impact Highway 260 and Clay Springs, and may be visible from State Highway 60 and U.S. Highway 260, as well as the communities of Heber-Overgaard, Linden, Pinedale, Snowflake, Taylor, Show Low and Pinetop-Lakeside. 

The Fill Fire is continuing to burn southwest of Pinedale in the previous Rodeo-Chediski Fire perimeter off the Forest Service Roads 132 and 300 on the Lakeside Ranger District.  Heavy smoke was experienced in Clay Springs overnight.  Drivers along Highway 260 may experience smoke and are encouraged to reduce their speed and make sure they have their headlights turned on in these places.  Smoke may also be visible from State Highway 60 and U.S.
