Yankee Doodle Fire near Palace Station nears containment

Firefighters continue to make progress on the 7-acre Yankee Doodle Fire which is 90% contained.  The Yankee Doodle Fire was reported on Wednesday, February 9, 2022, on the Bradshaw Ranger District.  The fire is approximately 12 miles south of Prescott near Palace Station (T12N, R1W, Sec 18).  Today firefighters will continue to secure and mop-up the perimeter of the fire and monitor as interior fuels continue to burn.  The fire poses no threat to life or property.

Firefighters respond to wildfire near Palace Station

At approximately 4:40 PM on Wednesday, February 9, 2022, resources from Prescott National Forest responded to a reported wildfire south of Prescott near Palace Station. Upon arrival the Yankee Doodle Fire was estimated to be 5-10 acres.  Due to the time-of-day firefighters scouted the area for containment features and initiated minimal suppression tactics on the fire. Today firefighters will be on scene using a full suppression strategy to achieve 100 percent containment.  There are no values at risk or threatened at this time.
