As the Safford Ranger District of the Coronado National Forest continues work on the Little Bull Prescribed Fire, a closure is now in effect to provide for public safety while prescribed burning is conducted place within the project area.

The Safford Ranger District of the Coronado National Forest expects to conduct the Little Bull Prescribed Fire as early as February 07, 2018. The project area consists of National Forest System lands in the southeastern portion of the Galiuro Mountains in southeastern Arizona, and is included in the Coronado’s Galiuro FireScape Project.
Pinal County Air Quality Department (PCAQD) is issuing an air quality advisory due to the potential for elevated particulates associated with smoke from the Burro Fire near Redington Pass in northeast Tucson. Periods of moderate to heavy smoke are possible over the weekend in the tri-community areas of San Manuel, Oracle and Mammoth.
The Safford Ranger District of the Coronado National Forest expects to begin the Paddy’s River Prescribed Fire as early as mid- December, 2016. The project area consists of National Forest System lands in the southern portion of the Galiuro Mountains in southeastern Arizona, and is included in the Coronado’s Galiuro FireScape Project.
The project boundaries lie between High Creek on the south and Deer Creek on the north and contains the Paddy’s River drainage, Black Canyon, Wood Canyon, and High Creek including both wilderness and non-wilderness land in rugged terrain.
The following roads are closed as of 4:00 PM on Wednesday, July 9.
Arizona City area:
- Lamb Road closed at Milligan Wash, downed power lines.
- Milligan Road closed from Sunland Gin Road to Overfield Road, downed power lines.
- Sunland Gin Road closed from Milligan Road to Monaco Boulevard, downed power lines.
According to Salt River Project, an estimated 50 power poles were knocked down during last night's monsoon storm. Currently, SRP crews are working to install new power poles in the areas affected.
