Glendale vaccination site at State Farm Stadium moving into Gila River Arena

Arizona’s largest vaccination site at State Farm Stadium will transition to an indoor site at Gila River Arena in Glendale on Friday, April 23 as temperatures heat up in Arizona.

Home to the Arizona Cardinals, the State Farm Stadium site has administered more than 632,000 doses since opening Jan. 11. It has become one of the largest mass-vaccination sites in the country, providing more than 10,000 doses per day this past weekend.

Arizona surging additional personnel to meet demand at state vaccine sites

Governor Doug Ducey announced a surge of staffing resources to meet the growing demand for vaccinations at State Farm Stadium and throughout the state. 

Following the mobilization of additional staff and implementation of other process improvements, wait times at state vaccination sites have been reduced significantly — to under 30 minutes today.

Arizona passes 2 million mark for COVID-19 vaccine doses administered

Arizona has administered its 2 millionth dose of COVID-19 vaccine as the state and local partners work to get the currently limited supply into arms as quickly as possible, including highly targeted efforts in underserved areas. 

As of this morning, 2,016,512 doses had been administered to 1,312,951 individuals, including 711,074 who have received both doses.

State adopts unique hybrid model for COVID-19 vaccine prioritization

Governor Doug Ducey and the Arizona Department of Health Services (ADHS) announced today a new hybrid approach that provides Arizonans 55 and older eligibility along with front line essential workers to receive the COVID-19 vaccine. The new approach launches today in the Phoenix Metro Area.

Governor Doug Ducey is applauding the hard work of Arizona’s medical professionals, volunteers and frontline workers as the state reaches one million vaccine doses administered today.

“We’ve reached a major milestone with our one millionth dose,” said Governor Ducey. “The dedication and hard work of many made this accomplishment possible. Nurses, doctors, health technicians, support staff, volunteers — to each and every one of you, thank you. ”

State Farm Stadium site vaccinates 100,000 against COVID-19 in less than three weeks

Less than three weeks after opening, the state’s first 24/7 COVID-19 vaccination site at State Farm Stadium has administered its 100,000th dose. 

That means one out of six doses put into arms since vaccine began arriving in Arizona in December has been given at the State Farm Stadium site, which launched on Jan. 11. As of today, a total of 629,845 doses have been administered across the state.

ADHS begins scheduling second dose appointments during initial visits to state sites

Arizonans receiving the COVID-19 vaccine can now schedule their second dose appointment on-site during their first dose appointment at Arizona’s state-run vaccine sites. This process improvement will further streamline the experience at the state’s 24/7 State Farm Stadium site ‒ and as of Feb. 1 at Phoenix Municipal Stadium.

More than half million doses of COVID-19 vaccine administered in Arizona

More than a half million doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been administered to Arizonans as of Wednesday morning, six weeks after the first doses of the life-saving vaccine became available.

“We’ve hit a major milestone in our battle against COVID-19,” said Dr. Cara Christ, director of the Arizona Department of Health Services. “We’ve come a long way since mid-December, but we have a long road ahead of us. Our goal is to get the vaccine to every Arizonan who wants it as quickly and efficiently as possible.”

Arizona passes 300,000 mark in COVID-19 vaccine doses administered

Almost 320,000 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in Arizona, reflecting strong momentum over the past week in getting more vaccine into the community. 

“Vaccine distribution is accelerating in Arizona, especially with the addition of the State Farm Stadium vaccination site. Late last week, we celebrated passing 200,000 doses administered and now we’ve surpassed 300,000,” said Dr. Cara Christ, director of the Arizona Department of Health Services (ADHS). “Arizona has been working to get these vaccines out of cold storage and into the arms of prioritized individuals.”

Registration opens Tuesday for more appointments at two state COVID-19 vaccine sites

In a major step forward as the state increases the pace of COVID-19 vaccination, prioritized Arizonans will be able to register starting at 9 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 19, for February appointments at two state-run sites. Initial appointments are limited based on vaccine supply, with appointments opening up depending on distribution of the vaccine by the federal government. 

More than 281,000 doses of the safe and effective COVID-19 vaccine have been administered so far to 243,593 Arizonans, including 32,269 who have received both doses.
