Wood Springs 2 Fire update; light winds and smoke expected

Wood Springs 2 Fire, Sawmill, Fluted Rock, wildfire, smoke, Window Rock, Ganado

Fire activity: The fire remains approximately 5 miles west of Sawmill, east of Route 7 and north of the KV powerlines. Initial assessment by ground crews in the fire area indicated two coral has burned. Additionally, one hogan sustained minor fire damage. Structure assessment will continue to occur when it is safe for firefighters to enter.

Navajo Nation extends closure of government until May 17 to reduce the spread of COVID-19

On Tuesday, Navajo Nation President Jonathan Nez and Vice President Myron Lizer issued Executive Order 003-20, extending the declaration of a state of emergency and extending the closure of Navajo Nation government offices and related entities until May 17, to help slow and reduce the spread of COVID-19 on the Navajo Nation. The previous Executive Order was set to expire on April 26.
