Fire Managers on the Bradshaw Ranger District plan to continue taking advantage of favorable conditions, including fuel moisture level and forecasted weather to continue burning piles at various locations in the Prescott Basin Monday, December 2nd through Friday, December 6th. Pile burning helps to reduce hazardous fuels adjacent to the wildland urban interface and increase ecosystem and community resilience.
Last night, crews made good progress establishing an anchor point at the southwest corner of the fire and completed burn out operations along the southern edge of the fire. Today firefighters went direct along the west edge of the fire to the north. Dozers and engines continued with structure protection on 2 ranches to the west of the fire and at Palace Station to the north. Air support worked most the day on the north end of the fire keeping the fire from moving past Longfellow Ridge.
The Bradshaw Ranger District has expanded the Goodwin Fire area closure on Wednesday, June 28th at 6:00 am. The area affected follows the Prescott NF boundary along State Hwy 69 on the East and North sides, then State Highway 89 on the West, and as far south as Walnut Grove across to Cleator. All campgrounds and recreation opportunities in this area will be closed to the public as a precautionary measure to ensure public safety and to allow safe travel for those involved in the Goodwin Fire.
