Cody fire remains at 90 percent containment

This will be the last update provided by Southwest Area Incident Management Team 4. As the local unit prepares to assume command, continued community support will remain vital to the ongoing success of the dedicated firefighters, crews, and personnel working to reach full containment.

Southwest Complex Incident Management Team transitions Greer Fire to local type 3 team

Extensive suppression repair work has occurred the past few days with little to no threat of fire crossing containment lines. A local type 3 organization will assume command of the fire tonight at 6 p.m. Today, the incoming type 3 incident commander is working closely with the team before they depart to ensure a smooth transition. This will be the final daily update from the incident management team. Future updates and information about the fire will be posted to Inciweb and the incident Facebook page through Memorial Day weekend.

Minimal growth on the Bryce Fire

Overnight, cooler temperatures and increased relative humidity levels helped keep fire activity minimal through Monday’s night shift. Two hotshot crews worked to hold, improve, and secure any uncontained line along the east flank of the fire. Last night engines patrolled across the fire’s perimeter ,including around the structures monitoring for any issues or concerns that could potentially threaten the line during Tuesday’s critical fire weather.

Evacuation levels lowered as containment increases on the Horton Fire

The Horton Fire is now 75% contained after diligent work from fire crews over the past several weeks. Fire crews continue to patrol and monitor the area and address interior hot-spots while enhancing containment along the SR-260 corridor. With the increase of containment, all communities in the area have been downgraded to READY status. The Southwest Complex Incident Management Team 1 will be handing management of this fire back too the Tonto National Forest on Monday, January 13.

Horton Fire continues slow growth; community meeting tonight in Payson

Highlights: The Horton Fire increased to 1,095 acres and remains at 17% containment. No firing operations occurred on the Horton Fire yesterday.

Tonight’s community meeting is scheduled for 6 p.m. on at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, located at 546 W Ashby Apple Dr., Payson, AZ 85541.

Tomorrow, December 31, 2024, Southwest Area Incident Management Team 1 will assume command and management of the Horton Fire.

Horton fire operations continue; community meeting planned for Monday

The Horton Fire increased to 1,074 acres and remains at 17% containment. Increased activity occurred near the Promontory Point area, with fire continuing to move east and south along Promontory Point and east of Horton Springs.
