Tonto National Forest fire specialists will resume prescribed fire treatments in areas around Payson starting on Monday, February 6 through Friday, February 10, 2017 Fire specialists will eliminate 100 acres of vegetative debris piles in the Tonto Creek Estates area. During the day, smoke will move northeast and will impact the communities of Zane Grey and Tonto Creek Fish Hatchery. Smoke may hang against the face of the Mogollon Rim. Tonto National Forest fire specialists will continue to take advantage of weather conditions to conduct fire treatments on the Payson Ranger District beginning Monday, November 7, 2016.
Fire specialists will burn piles around the Diamond Point Lookout northeast of Payson, beginning on Monday, November 7, and lasting through Wednesday, November 9, 2016. Smoke will be moderate and impact the communities of Diamond Point Summer homes during the day. During the evening, smoke will impact Diamond Point Shadows and Star valley. Smoke may linger in the area until the weekend.
Tonto National Forest fire specialists will take advantage of weather conditions to conduct broadcast fire treatments in Payson and Pleasant Valley ranger districts during the week of October 31 through November 4, 2016.
Tonto National Forest fire specialists will take advantage of weather conditions to conduct a broadcast fire treatment on the northern end of Pleasant Valley Ranger District the week of October 25 – 28, 2016. Fire specialists will conduct a 720 acre broadcast fire treatment west of the 512 Road, also known as the Young Highway, between Forest Road 411 C and Forest Road 128. During the day and in to the evening smoke will impact the 512 Road and OW Ranch.
Tonto National Forest fire specialists are changing burn locations based on current weather conditions. Starting Wednesday, February 10, 2016, fire specialists will begin eliminating 374 acres of vegetative debris piles near Erosion Tank, which is located just east of Bray Creek Ranch. Burning will continue through Friday, February 12, 2016. Smoke will impact the Town of Geronimo Estates during the day, and residual smoke in the evening will impact Geronimo and East Verde Estates. Smoke may linger in the area through the weekend.
The Tonto National Forest will continue conducting prescribed fire treatments in areas around Payson as conditions permit. Starting on Monday, February 8, 2016, fire specialists will begin eliminating 273 acres of vegetative debris piles around Ellison Creek Estates and near Las Cienegas Ranch. Smoke will impact Ellison Creek, and the La Cienega Ranch areas during the day. Residual smoke in the evening hours will impact Bonita Creek, Whispering Pines, and Beaver Valley. Smoke may linger in these areas through Sunday, February 14, 2016.
