Bryce Fire Update

Summary: Fire activity moderated some overnight giving Sunday’s night shift the opportunity to reinforce existing control features in advance of Monday’s incoming critical fire weather.

The night shift of engines and hotshot crews focused on the northern flank of the fire, as well as east of River Road where nearly one mile of containment line was established by firing operations the night before.

Summary:

Favorable weather conditions overnight, including cooler temperatures and higher relative humidity levels, continue to play a role in minimal fire activity. No additional growth has been reported on the fire over the last few days. The fire is 2,138 acres and 62% contained.

Friday morning, the Cochise County Sheriff’s Office lifted the last remaining SET notifications for the areas south of Ironwood Road and west of Cochise Stronghold Road. All residents are in READY status.

Cochise County SO lifted the GO notification for some residents and returned them to SET

Summary: Despite weather and topography challenges, crews continue to make good progress on the fire. With an increase in containment on Wednesday, today, the Cochise County Sheriff’s Office reduced the GO status for some residents impacted by the fire.

Thursday morning, the Sheriff’s Office lifted the GO status and returned residents to SET in the areas south of Ironwood Road and west of Cochise Stronghold Road.

All residents in SET have returned to READY.

Brady Fire grows to 400 acres near Pine Flats; evacuations in place as crews work toward containment

Today fire crews with the assistance of heavy equipment, where feasible, will continue to make access to the portions of the fire’s perimeter and construct line along the fires edge. The assessment of values at risk and protection efforts needed will resume. With forecasted winds, crews will look for opportunities to slow the fires progression to the north.  Little growth was reported last night as cooler temperatures moderated fire behavior.

Three Sisters and Pine Flat Rx Fire projects scheduled for final treatments this week

Fire Managers are preparing to wrap up the 2024 fall prescribed burning season on the south zone of the Kaibab National Forest this week beginning with the 3055 acre Pine Flat Prescribed Fire Project located approximately 15 miles south of Williams, followed by the 1467 acre Fireball Unit on the Three Sisters Prescribed Fire Project located 5 miles northwest of Williams on the south side of FR 124.
