A rice dish made with some non-traditional ingredients will give you a different flavor to enjoy when you're supplies are limited.
Recipe Ingredients:
1 cup rice
1/4 cup granola
1 can peaches, chopped
1 cup chicken broth or water
1/2 cup apple juice
OPTIONAL: chopped onions, diced apples, raisins or other dried fruit, chopped nuts, and salt and pepper
Directions:
Place rice, granola, chicken broth, and apple juice in a pan, cover with lid (or foil) and cook until the liquid is absorbed and evaporated. Can be cooked over a fire or any other heating source.
Once the liquid is gone and the rice is soft and fluffy, toss in the peaches and mix until well distributed.
Optional ingredients: onions or apples you will want to cook with the rice and liquid. Add raisins or other dried fruit, chopped nuts, and salt and pepper with the peaches.
Cooking Tips:
This dish is very flexible and can be amended any number of ways. Cinnamon is a nice seasoning to add as well.
