Pipeline Prescribed Burn March 1st – 6th on the Bradshaw RD

Fire Managers on the Bradshaw Ranger District will begin implementing the Pipeline RX starting as early as Monday, March 1st and continuing through Saturday, March 6th.  Firefighters plan to treat 700 acres near the community of Groom Creek (T13N, R2W, SEC 27,28,33,34) when conditions are favorable; including air quality, wind direction and weather forecasts.

Bureau of Land Management to conduct prescribed fire south of Fredonia, AZ

Fire managers for the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Arizona Strip District are planning to use prescribed fire to burn cut vegetation and slash debris in an area located 30 miles south of Fredonia, Arizona in the Kanab Creek drainage.  Prescribed burning will begin early March 2021 and last through late March 2021, if weather and vegetation conditions allow, in accordance with the prescribed fire burn plan. The thinning, cutting, and burning of vegetation are intended to enhance wildlife habitat as well as protect cultural and natural resources.

Payson Ranger District plans several pile burns this week

Firefighters on the Payson Ranger District will be conducting several pile burns throughout the week of Feb. 15, 2021.

The purpose of these burns is to reduce the potential and severity of a wildfire for the safety of the public and the protection of natural resources. The following prescription pile burns are planned for:

Coconino National Forest: pile burns planned this week

Coconino National Forest firefighters are planning to take advantage of favorable weather conditions this week for prescribed pile burn operations, beginning as early as tomorrow on the Mogollon Rim Ranger District.

Pile Burning planned Feb. 5-12 on the Bradshaw Ranger District

Fire Managers on the Bradshaw Ranger District plan to burn piles within the Prescott Basin (Senator Highway, Copper Basin, Walker Road and Deering Park). Ignitions will be starting on Friday, February 5th and continue through Friday, February 12th if conditions remain favorable. Fire managers expect smoke impacts to be light in the surrounding areas. Pile burning helps to reduce hazardous fuels adjacent to the wildland urban interface and increase ecosystem and community resilience.

Payson Ranger District conducting pile burns

Tonto National Forest, U.S. Forest Service, pile burn, Payson Ranger District, Geronimo Boy Scout Ranch, Geronimo Estates, Beaver Valley Estates, Flowing Springs

The Payson Ranger District will be conducting a pile burn at the Geronimo Boy Scout Ranch Piles starting Thursday, Feb. 4-12, 2021.

The burn will consume approximately 30 acres of piles. Smoke impacts may occur during the day at the Geronimo Boy Scout Ranch and during the night at Geronimo Estates. Signs will be posted in these areas to alert the public of the operations. Residents and visitors to the area can expect to see and smell light-to-moderate amounts of smoke.

Pile burning planned February 4 on the Verde Ranger District

Fire Managers on the Verde Ranger District plan to take advantage of the moisture received last week and burn 80 acres of piles on Thursday, February 4th.  Piles are located west of the community of Cherry and north of Powell Springs Campground (T14N, R2E, Sec 18).  Fire managers expect smoke impacts to the community of Cherry to be light.  Pile burning helps to reduce hazardous fuels adjacent to the wildland urban interface and increase ecosystem and community resilience.

The Payson Ranger District will be conducting several pile burns today. Ignitions will occur in the Pine Pit, Chase Pit, Perley Pit, Pleasant Valley Pit, Gisela Pit, and near the Payson Ranger Station.

Pile burning on Mt. Lemmon

Santa Catalina Ranger District, Coronado National Forest, pile burn, Mt. Lemmon, Bighorn Fire

The Santa Catalina Ranger District, Coronado National Forest plans to burn piles of wood as conditions are optimal between December 15 and 18, 2020.

The area to be burned is approximately one-half mile north of Summerhaven on Mt. Lemmon, at the Mt. Lemmon Fire Department Helispot.

The burning will consume a small pile of slash (15 feet by 15 feet) of woody debris gathered from post-Bighorn Fire suppression efforts. Little smoke will be visible during the firing operations and for several hours following ignition while the pile burns.

Pile burning planned December 10-11 on Bradshaw Ranger District

Fire Managers on the Bradshaw Ranger District plan to take advantage of predicted weather to burn piles along the Lower Wolf Creek Rd.  (FR-73) starting on Thursday, December 10th through Friday, December 11th. Fire managers expect smoke impacts to Groom Creek and surrounding areas to be light. Pile burning helps to reduce hazardous fuels adjacent to the wildland urban interface and increase ecosystem and community resilience.
