Crews make progress on Hidden Fire

Crews made great progress towards the goal of full suppression on the Hidden Fire. The fire was moderately active as it moved through pine stringers, burning pine litter and manzanita/oak understory. A run up the southwest flank of Chalk mountain produced a heavy smoke column in the afternoon. Firefighters completed containment line along the northeastern perimeter and work continued to focus on mitigating the danger to values at risk.

Hidden Fire: “SET” Advisory for Jakes Corner

As a result of the Hidden Fire, the Gila County Sheriff's Office and Gila County Emergency Management have recommended that the following areas be placed on a “SET” mode on the Ready, Set, Go model:

  • 76 Ranch, all residents in the Highway188 corridor including Jakes Corner, Del Chi Ranch, Pioneer Pass, Brownsville, Slate Creek to the North end of Punkin Center and the Malon Pasture area (North Chaparral Trail, North Sierra Ancha Way, and Santo Sandia Lane)

Griffin Fire grows, communities remain in “Set” and “Go”

The communities along the east side of Highway 60 (north of Globe) from ADOT yard north to Winters Ranch including Johnson Ranch and McMillionville are in a “Go” evacuation Status. 
The San Carlos communities of Upper Gilson and Skill Center are on “Set” Status. 
Highway 60 is closed north of Globe from S. Parker Street (MM251) north to MM318 www.az511.gov

Salt Fire: “SET” Advisory for Rock House Area, Cherry Creek Road, and Ellison Ranch

As a result of the Salt Fire, the Gila County Sheriff's Office and Gila County Emergency Management have recommended that the following areas be placed on a “SET” mode on the Ready, Set, Go model:

  • Rock House area, Cherry Creek Road, and Ellison Ranch

Outflow winds make afternoon appearance over Ridge Fire

Assigned crews working the Ridge Fire Sunday continued to suppress hot spots around the fire perimeter until a thunderstorm appeared about 4 p.m. With area lightning, hail, and strong winds, crews were pulled off the fire for safety. Although moisture remained north of the fire perimeter, lines were tested by outflow winds from the passing thunderstorm, but containment lines held.

"GO" evacuation advisory for Wheatfields

As a result of the Salt, Gin and Griffin Fires, the Gila County Sheriff's Office and Gila County Emergency Management have recommended that the following areas be placed on "GO" mode on the Ready, Set, Go model: 
- Areas on both sides of State Route 188 from Bixby Road to the 188/288 Junction. Including all of Wheatfields.

GO - Be Alert - Danger in your area is imminent and life-threatening

"GO" evacuation advisory for all residents on Hicks Rd. between H&E Ranch and Pringle Pump

• Residents should evacuate immediately to a shelter or with family/friends outside of the
affected area. Residents should avoid close contact with those who are sick and should practice public health recommendations when relocating.
• If you choose to ignore this advisement, you must understand emergency services may not be able to assist you further.
• Follow instructions from emergency personnel, stay on designated evacuation routes and avoid closed areas.

Salt, Gin and Griffin Fire updates: Southwest Area IMT 5 takes command

As a result of the Salt Fire, the Gila County Sheriff's Office and Gila County Emergency Management have recommended that the following areas be placed on "SET" mode on the Ready Set, Go! model:  areas on both sides of Hwy 188 from Bixby Road to the 188/288 junction all of Wheatfields.  This includes the areas between H&E Ranch and Pringle Pump, Roosevelt Estates, Roosevelt Resort, Rockhouse, Spring Creek, Hay Hook, and Quail Run. 

THESE COMMUNITIES ARE NOT IMMEDIATELY THREATENED, THE 'SET' NOTIFICATION IS A PREPARATORY MEASURE.

Bumble Bee Fire burns in the Bradshaw Mountains north of Phoenix

Unseasonably hot and dry conditions continue to keep Arizona firefighters busy. The Bumble Bee Fire burning west of Interstate 17(I-17), started Friday morning in the eastern foothills of the Bradshaw Mountains north of Phoenix and quickly grew to over 2,000 acres threatening the community of Bumble Bee to its east and putting the communities of Cleator and Crown King to its northwest on alert. Firefighters on the ground were assisted by airtankers and helicopters consistently throughout the day.

Bighorn Fire: changes to evacuation levels

Redington Road remains closed. A closure order remains in place on the Coronado National Forest for the areas affected by the Bighorn Fire.
