The Alpine Ranger District on the Apache Sitgreaves National Forests will be conducting approximately one mile of roadside pile burning along forest roads 403, 403F and Highway 191, starting October 31 and continuing through November 9, weather permitting. The burn consists of old decadent slash piles left over from the Wallow salvage sale, which will be burned to allow for the regeneration of new seedlings and/or native grasses.

The Arizona Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ) is issuing a PM-10 Health Watch for Maricopa County, effective Thursday, September 21, 2017. This health watch is due to pollution levels expected to approach the federal health standard.

This health watch includes the following restrictions:
Open burning and wood burning fireplace activity is restricted in Maricopa County. This includes individuals and businesses which have burn permits for open burning.
