The lightning caused Weimer fire burning north of Forest Lakes and west of Heber-Overgaard is now at 1,066 acres with 80% containment.
Ignitions have been completed and remaining firefighting resources include three engines. The Weimer fire, detected on July 2, is burning within the Wagon Draw fire scar from 2009.
This will be the final update unless fire activity and weather conditions warrant.
Operations: Fire crews will continue to mop up and secure the fire perimeter by extinguishing any remaining hot spots along containment lines.
Smoke: Smoke has been significantly reduced and should continue to diminish each day. Air quality information is available at https://www.airnow.gov/.
Closures: The temporary closure on FR 170 near the fire has been reopened, however, the public is advised to reduce their speed and be aware of firefighting personnel in the area.
Value at Risk: There are no structures, homes, or infrastructure threatened at this time.
Safety: There are no evacuations at this time.
Weather: The forecast is calling for sunny skies, a high of 87 degrees, and north winds 10 to 15 mph.
