Coconino County Public Health Services District (CCPHSD) officials announced that two cases of influenza have been confirmed in Coconino County. These cases are the first reported in Coconino County for the 2018 – 2019 flu season. The individuals have recovered from the illness.  The reported cases prompted Public Health officials to remind citizens to receive the flu vaccination (flu shot).

Influenza activity is at record levels in Arizona and there are several hospitals statewide experiencing long emergency room wait times due to the increased number of sick Arizonans. Arizona Department of Health Services advises everyone to get vaccinated immediately.

After consulting with healthcare and public health partners, the Arizona Department of Health Services is advising ill people to only seek emergency medical care if they are at high risk for serious complications or are experiencing severe symptoms.
