Summary:
Crews have been very successful working to get line around the entire fire and cold trailing for any remaining heat along the fire’s perimeter. However, there is still a lot of heat remaining within the interior of the fire and there may be torching overnight as the fire hits unburned pockets of fuel.
The northwest flank is still the most active with hotshot crews working throughout that rugged terrain within the Cerbats. A contingency plan is in place with scouting and prepping operations underway to develop a precautionary and secondary line to protect homes to the north of the fire.
Crews have secured containment lines around the east and southeastern flanks of the fire. Aircraft remains assigned to the incident and helicopter are assisting with bucket work to suppress hotspots. Winds may prohibit aircraft from flying at times.
Personnel Assigned: approximately 200 personnel, Type 2 hand crews, hotshot crews, engines, water tenders, heavy aircraft, helicopters, dozers, Air Attack, Lead Plane Weather: Seasonally hot temperatures, dry and windy conditions with a Red Flag Warning in effect for the fire area through Friday, July 7, at 8 pm.
