Yesterday, firefighters continued to patrol control lines and search for heat remaining around the fire perimeter. Today, fire crews will mop up smoldering hot spots and monitor the fire area. There is still very high fire danger throughout the Tonto National Forest. Almost 23,500 acres have burned so far this year, largely by human-caused fires.
