The National Weather Service has issued a RED FLAG WARNING for Thursday May 17 from 11 am to 7 pm for all of the Apache-Sitgreaves National Forests (ASNFs) and most of eastern Arizona due to strong winds and low relative humidity. Relative humidity levels are expected to drop into the single digits and wind gusts are expected to be between 30 to 40 mph over the White Mountains and Mogollon Rim Country.
Incident: Burro Fire Wildfire Released: 1:17 hrs. ago
The Burro fire is burning in tall grass and brush in the foothills of Redington Pass near Burrro Tank. Fire activity is increasing today, as southwest winds push the fire east. Suppression resources have been working to keep the fire from progressing to the west. Heavy aviation support has been used today including a Very Large Air Tanker (VLAT) and 3 helicopters. Fire managers are actively working to find ways to safely utilize the crews assigned in the steep rugged terrain.
