The Frye Fire is located in the  Safford Ranger District of the Coronado National Forest; 7 miles southwest of Safford, AZ.  The fire is approximately 49,435 acres and estimated at 66 percent containment.

Summary:  Strong northeasterly flow aloft has hindered thunderstorm development over Mount Graham.  Chances of wetting rains will greatly increase on Sunday, bringing small hail, brief heavy downpours, lightning and gusty winds.

The Safford Ranger District of the Coronado National Forest has been conducting Phase 2 of the Paddy’s River Prescribed Fire this week. The project area consists of National Forest System lands in the eastern portion of the Galiuro Mountains in southeastern Arizona, and is included in the Coronado’s Galiuro FireScape Project.

The National Weather Service has issued a RED FLAG WARNING for April 27 and April 28 for much of Southern Arizona including portions of the Apache-Sitgreaves National Forests due to strong winds, low relative humidity and very high fire danger. This Red Flag Warning is in effect today, April 27 from 12:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. MST and tomorrow April 28 from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. MST in southeast fire weather zone 152 including eastern Cochise, southeast Graham and southern Greenlee Counties.
