Nutrioso

The Alpine Ranger District on the Apache Sitgreaves National Forests will be conducting pile burning on the Little Timber Sale, starting October 15, 2018, weather permitting, and continuing through December 2018. The piles are located off Forest Road 275, just North of Alpine, and continue down Forest Road 275k. The burn consists of material from the Little Timber sale, which are 20’ X 20’ machine piles, and will be burned to allow for the regeneration of new seedlings and/or native grasses.

The Rattlesnake Fire is located approximately 43 miles southeast of Whiteriver, 20 miles southwest of Alpine, and over 50 miles northwest of San Carlos, burning on the Fort Apache Indian Reservation, San Carlos Indian Reservation and the Apache-Sitgreaves National Forests.

The fire is estimated to be 24 percent contained and is approximately 14,427 acres in size.

Public Meeting: A public meeting was held Thursday evening at the Alpine Community Center. Approximately 175 people attended.

The Rattlesnake Fire is located southeast of Whiteriver, Arizona.  The fire estimated to be 20 percent contained and is approximately 12,797 acres.

Public Meeting: There was a community meeting in Alpine last night at the Alpine Community Center where concerned citizens gathered to hear updates from agency leaders and the fire team, and it was well attended.

The Alpine Ranger District on the Apache-Sitgreaves National Forests is planning to conduct prescribed fire operations Wednesday, October 18. The district plans to burn approximately 200 acres of the Nutri 2 Unit, one mile south of Nutrioso and three miles west of Alpine.

The project covers approximately 2000 acres of Wallow Fire high severity burn area. This 200 acres test area will be used to determine future planned ignitions in this area. If the test burn provides favorable results and meets predetermined objectives, ignitions will continue the week of October 23-27.

The Apache-Sitgreaves National Forests’ Alpine Ranger District will be conducting a 3,212 acreprescribed burn within the Nutrioso unit southwest of Nutrioso, beginning October 31st . Blacklining the perimeter will take place October 31th – November 4th, and burning the rest of the interior with aerial ignitions which will take place November 7th – 10th. 

The Nutrioso II Unit is one mile southwest of Nutrioso, AZ in the area just north of Williams Valley. The legal description is: T6N, R29E, Sections 10, 13-16, 21-26, 35 and 36; and T6N, R30E, Sections 19, 30 and 31. 

The Apache-Sitgreaves National Forests’ Alpine Ranger District will be conducting a 3,212 acre prescribed burn within the Nutrioso unit southwest of Nutrioso, beginning October 25. Blacklining the perimeter will take place October 25th – 28th, and burning the rest of the interior with aerial ignitions which will take place November 7th – 10th.

The Nutrioso II Unit is one mile southwest of Nutrioso, AZ in the area just north of Williams Valley. The legal description is: T6N, R29E, Sections 10, 13-16, 21-26, 35 and 36; and T6N, R30E, Sections 19, 30 and 31.
